We come to you. It's important for you and your dog to receive the service you need in a comfortable and familiar environment - your own home. It also lets us assess you and your dog's needs by looking at the physical and psychological environment of your dog.

Most dog training methods fail because it only addresses the physical behaviour, and not the actual mental state that is causing the behaviour - dealing with the Psychological state the dog is in leading up to, during and after the problem behaviour is the only real way you can extinguish problem bahaviours consistently, and long term. Momentarily distracting a dog with treats or simply redirecting the dog's attention almost never extinguishes the problem behaviour and often simply masks the behaviour for a while, or you will need to rely on treats forever (which means your dog listens to the treats - and not you), or the problem behaviour can actually get worse.

At the Initial Consultation we'll go through a thorough assessment of your dog. We'll discuss your dog's history, diet and exercise routines, current issues, specific needs and your goals that you want to achieve with your dog. We'll tailor a specific plan for you. and show you exactly what to do to achieve results.

Is walking your dog difficult because of their aggressive lunging and barking at other dogs, people or moving objects? This is a common and yet most stressful problem for dog owners. Leash reactivity and aggression is not something your dog will grow out of. It will actually get worse if it's not addressed. The good news is, it's something that can be overcome with the right strategy. Don't suffer it, we can help.

Is walking your dog difficult? Does your dog pull on the lead and difficult to control? Are your hands getting shredded and painful whenever you go for walkies? Learn how to walk your dog next to you in a calm and relaxed way, without pulling or lunging at distracting things like other animals and people.

Don't suffer the social humiliation of your dog reacting badly to other people, dogs or animals at the cafe. The goal is for you to be able to sip your latte and watch the world go by with your dog quietly relaxing at your feet. Reactivity at the cafe is symptomatic of other problems but the good news is your dog can learn to enjoy going to the cafe!

Is your dog anxious? Do they make high pitched noises, bark excessively or even show aggression towards other people or dogs? A dog that's anxious might show it in many different ways, but anxiety doesn't have to be a part of your dog's life.

Bringing home a new puppy is so exciting! But if you don't prepare and have the right resources and know-how around Puppy care and training, that excitement can quickly turn into a nightmare. Learn everything about puppy training and care for a smooth transition into dog ownership.

Separation anxiety is when your dog shows distress when left alone at home or whenever they are separated from you. They may bark excessively, scream, whimper, destroy things, and even pee or poop inappropriately. There are ways you can stop separation anxiety, so that your dog feels calm and relaxed even when you're not around.

Chewing furniture, ruining the carpet, destroying walls, raiding the rubbish bin, eating your child's homework...whatever the destructive behaviour is, it cannot continue! Find out what the underlying cause is, and put a stop to destructive behaviours. Your dog deserves to be in a happy, calm and relaxed mindset.

Is your dog out of control? Dog's that jump on people, show aggression towards people and other dogs, mouthing and biting shouldn't be tolerated. When your dog doesn't listen, causes complaints from your neighbours and has become too much to handle, it's time to change things. Improve your dog's mindset and behaviour, and in return, you'll have the relationship with your dog that you always wanted.

Whether it's bringing a new puppy/dog into a household, or introducing a new baby into a household with a dog, problems can develop between dogs and children. Learn how to keep your children safe by teaching them how to handle and behave around puppies and dogs to minimise the risk of jumping, biting, nipping and other unwanted or aggressive behaviours towards children. Teaching your kids how to approach, play with and respond to their puppies and dogs is essential for a safe and happy family life.

Specialising in Canine Developmental, Psychological and Behavioural Issues, the Founder Miki Kanamaru explains what Pawsitive Mindset is all about.
Sometimes dog training doesn't work, but that's mostly to do with the Human rather than the dog. At Pawsitive Mindset what we do isn't dog training. its Human training to get the best out of your dog.
If there's one thing you need to be able to do with your dog, this is it. It will work towards managing a lot of other behavioural issues...
Are we responsible for our dogs being anxious? Miki talks to Matt Doran and Monique Wright about how we might be causing our dog's anxiety.
